Our Executive Chef
Executive Chef Richard Benson landed at the Kingfisher Oceanside Resort & Spa as Executive Sous Chef and took the reins as Executive Chef in 2018. A Red Seal Chef with over 20 years' experience, he was the recipient of the Grand Marnier Dessert Challenge People's Choice Award, Conde Nast Gold Traveler Award and the Hotelympia Le Salon Culinaire International De Londres.
Chef Richard is inspired by the opportunity to create menus focused not only on local and wild products, but also safe and sustainable ingredients. With a passion for working directly with local growers, producers, fisherman and farmers, Chef Richard has the opportunity to bring the freshest local ingredients to the table whenever possible. He looks forward to welcoming you to both dining venues and creating unique menus that compliment the outstanding panoramic views and support the very essence of farm to plate cuisine.
In supporting the efforts of keeping our local community safe, Chef Richard spearheaded the efforts for Kingfisher to launch a Meal Box Pick Up offering to make grocery shopping and meal prep easier for you. A selection of the best ingredients for seafood, meats and produce that you are used to enjoying while dining at Ocean7 Restaurant and Aqua Bistro & Wine Bar will be available for online ordering. Our program will launch with first Meal Box pick ups on Tuesday, April 28, 2020.
There will be choices of Meal Boxes for grilling such as the Pacific Halibut Dinner and Surf & Turf Dinner as well as some fully prepared meals such as our infamous Seafood Chowder made from the freshest ingredients. We will also be offering wine pairing options Our absolutely contactless pick up procedures are as simple as placing an online order by 3 pm, and your Meal Box will be available at a designated spot in the Kingfisher outdoor parking lot the next day between 11 am and 3 pm.
